Cole Habekost is a violinist and composer dedicated to uncommon music. As a sought-after interpreter of contemporary music Cole has premiered dozens of works for solo violin or chamber ensemble since 2020. Cole’s personal mission is to use sound to inspire and enrich lives. To further this aim, he is founding a summer institute for young string players in 2025.

 

Recent engagements as a soloist include a performance of Lou Harrison’s violin concerto with the Manhattan School of Music Percussion Ensemble. Awards include first prize wins in the Rocky Ridge Chamber Music Competition and Douglas Wayland Chamber Music Competition, as well as first place in the Bowling Green State University concerto competition. As a chamber musician, he has received training from members of the Emerson, Takács and Kronos quartets.
